Uratex and Rajo Laurel: Designing the art of sleeping well
Uratex has teamed up with Rajo Laurel to create the Rajo Laurel Designer Collection for Uratex, an exclusive brand of stylish, premium-quality bedding and foam products.

Rajo Laurel is widely regarded as one of the most respected designers in Asia. Making the Philippines proud time and again since the early ‘90s, Rajo Laurel was named Air France’s Young Designer of the Year in 1994, Most Promising Designer of the Year in 1996, and The Loop’s (Editors’ Choice Award) Favorite Designer in 1998. He also re-ceived awards at the ASEAN Young Designers Competition in Singapore in 1993, Smir-noff Fashion Design Awards in 1995, and Asia Collection “Makuhari Grand Prix ‘97” held in Japan in 1997.
Throughout his prolific career in fashion design, Rajo Laurel has staged and participated in several major galas not only in Asia but also in other parts of the world. He was part of such exhibitions as the 1997 Philippine Centennial Show in Sydney and the Saks Fifth Avenue Bridal Exhibition staged in New York in 2001. In 2004 and 2005, he represented the Philippines in Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week. In 2007, he was invited to par-ticipate in the prestigious Bali Fashion Week. Today, he continues to grow his fashion and lifestyle business with chic, smart and exciting designs.
Now in his new role as Uratex’s business partner and design consultant, Rajo Laurel brings in a fresh thread of excitement to complement the dynamic fiber of this leading foam brand.

Just as thrilled, the multi-awarded fashion icon shares, “I feel really good about this part-nership with Uratex. I love sleeping! It’s one of my favorite things in the world! And I know the importance of a good sleep.” He adds, “Through this exclusive Uratex collection, I can now interpret my desires for a perfect sleep.”
The Rajo Laurel Designer Collection for Uratex offers a perfect marriage of style, function, state-of-the-art foam technology and modern, sophisticated designs with classic, neutral colors. It is a showcase of Rajo Laurel’s signature designs, his personal interpretation of comfort and elegance for everyone’s most intimate and relaxing moments.
Rajo Laurel enthuses, “I was so excited to create this new collection of very special and exclusive designs for Uratex. For me, everything new is always exciting!” As for his design inspiration, he says, “I was inspired to incorporate tailoring and dressmaking techniques in the foam designs. I am a fashion designer first and so this is what I drew inspiration from.”
Indeed, one of his Uratex creations called Trapunto takes inspiration from the Italian quilt-ing style of the same name. The other one called Quadrado features a classy diamond quilt design that artfully forms intersecting squares. Aside from using his signature tech-niques, Rajo Laurel also incorporated his signature in the fabric – literally – with both mat-tresses showcasing Rajo Laurel’s famed RL signature.
Together, Rajo Laurel and Uratex have designed a new, über-comfortable, elegant and fashionable approach to rest and relaxation. And this is just the beginning of what prom-ises to be a long-term partnership in redefining the art of sleeping well.
