RGC Group/Uratex is a major sponsor of the Mind Museum set to open by the end of Y2011 in a super-prime 12,000 sqm site in Bonifacio Global City. At RGC Group/Uratex, we share the sentiment behind this endeavor; that it is time “to provide our country, and children, a WORLD CLASS SCIENCE MUSEUM they deserve”.
This project is a worthy tribute to our Filipino children. They are no different, no less talented than children of other countries. They truly deserve this.
Besides that, RGC/Uratex also feels this project provides a fitting legacy to our late founder Robert G. Cheng for two reasons. First, this museum is going to be world-class; and this museum is going to make every Filipino proud. At RGC Group/Uratex, we strive to be world-class and be recognized by our industry peers, here and abroad, as such. We also strive to be known as a Filipino success story; and that is part of our vision.
When industry peers from other countries visit our factories, they always say, they are surprised to find such a state-of-the-art facilities and world-class operations in the Philippines. And it makes us proud to give our country a good name. Second, while we had no opportunity to ask Mr. Robert Cheng what inspired him to reach for the stars despite his humble beginnings, we are sure that the Mind Museum will serve as source of inspiration for many people like him.
We hope that one day, a precocious child will wander the corridors of the Mind Museum and be inspired to reach far beyond the limits that society has given him or her; the same way our founder transcended his own limitedness, and be able to make a difference in the lives of many people.
We would like to share with you our very
exciting project. Construction has started
to build the first world-class science
museum in the Philippines, The Mind
Museum! Opening is planned in end-2011.
As a key civic institution that is lacking in the Philippines, a
science museum is an essential tool for our nation to
address the significant gap in its math and science education. In the 2003 Trends in International
Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), the Philippines ranked 42nd among 45 countries at the high
school level. As Nobel laureate Robert Solow’s economic research described, a country’s level of science
and technology has a direct correlation with its level of economic growth.
In a nutshell, it is:
A PhP 1 Billion project; located in a super-prime 12,000 sqm site in Bonifacio Global City, right across from the future 6-star Shangri-La Hotel and Philippine Stock Exchange; filled with over 250 interactive exhibits in 5 galleries and an outdoor area called Science-in-the-Park. The galleries are: Atom, Earth, Life, Universe, and Technology. a world-class project with international partners and consultants such as National Geographic and the Singapore Science Centre.
The Mind Museum is envisioned to be a learning
facility, and not an entertainment center or video
arcade. It has a full-time Science Curator. The project
proponent is the Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc.
(BAFI), with a Board of Trustees comprised of
Ayala Land, Inc. and the Campos Group of Companies. Our chair is Mr.
Joselito D. Campos Jr. and our vice-chair is Mr. Fernando Zobel de
We are now in the middle of our fundraising campaign, having
raised 95% of our PhP 1 Billion target. Donors are recognized on
our Founder’s Wall IN PERPETUITY as part of a pioneering group
