Whether you sleep on your sofa bed or on your comfortable mattress, we must admit that sleeping is the best reward after a very long day. But sleep is not just for refreshment purposes – there are other benefits that one can experience from visiting dreamland.

Researches state that people with six or lesser hours of sleep a night have higher blood levels of inflammatory proteins than those who get more. According to a 2010 study, C-reactive proteins (the inflammatory proteins) which is associated with heart attack risk was higher on people with less hours of sleep.

In that study, it is said that college football players who tried to sleep at least 10 hours every night for seven to eight weeks improved their average sprit time, with less daytime fatigue and more stamina. Surprise, young ones! Apparently, you can get higher grades when you get a proper sleep. But how? According to a 2010 study in the journal Sleep, children between ages 10 to 16 years old with sleep disordered breathing are more likely to have problems with attention and learning. Because of that, students’ school performance decreases leading to lower grades.
This also applies in another study with findings, stating that college students who didn’t get enough sleep had worse grades that those who did.
You can hear vehicular accidents occurring left and right. But why? Some accidents are caused by machine problems, while the more common one is because of alcohol-influenced driving. But there is a more common reason why accidents occur – sleep deprivation.
According to a 2009 report by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, being tired is the highest reason for the occurrences of fatal single-car run-off-the-road crashes. Insufficient sleep for a night can greatly affect your driving ability – as similar as consuming an alcoholic drink.
