Under a santol tree, Robert G. Cheng, founder of Uratex, started his dream of providing high-quality foams and affordable mattresses for every Filipino to lie on. Together with his wife Natividad Y. Cheng, they built Polyfoam Chemical Corporation in 1968 with a capital of Php 4,000 and the help of 10 employees.
The Uratex promise to produce high-quality mattresses Filipinos can afford began when Robert and Natividad Cheng established the Polyfoam Chemical Corporation. In its perseverance to pursue this vision, it invested in world-class research and development to produce high-grade foams. Since then, the brand has grown to become the most recognized household name in the bedding industry, making the Uratex brand synonymous with quality.
Diversifying the business portfolio of Uratex RGC Group paved the way for offering specialized foam for electronics and automotive seating. It also began supplying textile, food packaging, and original automotive equipment manufacturer (OEM) products.
Today, the proudly Filipino-owned company has expanded business operations in factories and showrooms nationwide. With the growth and expansion, the group has also strengthened its commitment to corporate social responsibility through advocacy projects and sustainability programs.
Adoption of renewable energy, installation of solar rooftops, deployment of Electric Vehicles (EVs), and Tree Planting activities are some of the sustainable business practices of Uratex RGC Group aiming to protect the natural environment and save the planet.
Uratex RGC Group operates nationwide with 25 factories and 18 showrooms.

The name “Uratex” was derived from the words Urethane and Latex, two of the primary chemicals used in foam manufacturing.
Known as the sleep specialist when it started, Uratex has diversified its business portfolio for foam and non-foam groups.
The Uratex RGC Group consists of business groups specializing in OEM foam, mattresses and bedding, automotive parts and seats, miscellaneous components, monoblocks and home accessories, industrial fabrics, and plastic storage.
